Media Research Group - FAQ'S

FAQ'S

Q: What is media monitoring?
A: The term media monitoring relates to a service that is focused on searching the news for any subject or term of which a client wants to keep track. Once a search term is found, that news item is delivered to the client.

Q: How do I benefit from monitoring the media?
A: There are many different reasons why people choose to use our service, but the prime reason is to satisfy the need for information. For instance, PR professionals like to track the news that their public relations efforts have generated. Governments and corporations often monitor the news to gain information about how they are being presented in the media. Many use media monitoring services as a means of keeping up-to-date with the movements of their competitors, or to keep track of emerging trends.

Q: Which publications do you monitor?
A: We monitor and search all the daily and non-daily newspapers, including each Australian metropolitan, suburban and regional publication, as well as trade and consumer magazines. We also have overseas affiliates who can monitor issues and keywords to suit your needs.

Q. How long does it take to start a new media monitoring brief?
Your service begins as soon as you have confirmed all of your key search terms with our client services staff.

Q: How often are my clips sent to me?
A: Clips are received within hours or days, depending on the service that a client has ordered from The Media Research Group. Metropolitan newspapers from each of the Australian capital cities may be ready for delivery often prior to the time you receive the newspaper from your local newsagent!

Q: How can you deliver my clips?
A: Our clients can receive their clips by choosing from a number of different delivery options. They can view their clips electronically, by either email or on The Media Research Group web site after receiving personalized log-on details. Clients can also have hardcopy versions of their clips via courier, fax or post.

Q: How often can you deliver my clips?
A: Clients receiving an electronically delivered press clipping service can view or receive their coverage daily. Daily faxing and courier services are also available, or clients can choose to have their clips mailed via the traditional postal service.

Q: Can I exclude certain types of articles?
A: The key advantage of our service is that all of your reading instructions are tailored to suit your needs. Our sales and account services staff are trained to work closely with our clients to design reading instructions best suited to retrieving the news items you want, leaving unwanted clips behind.

Q: Can I avoid duplication?
A: We do our best to avoid duplication, should you desire. While some of our clients are interested in receiving any and every clip that matches their search terms, others prefer us to eliminate repeated stories. We pride ourselves in being attentive to each client's request. This starts with our sales and client service staff who are skilled at working with clients to create reading instructions that accurately reflect a client's current information needs.
Our readers have been trained to follow those reading instructions carefully. No client’s article distribution is delivered without a reader reviewing the clips to ensure the story matches the search criteria nominated by the client.

Q: Am I limited in the number of key search terms I can use?
A: No. The Media Research Group does not limit your use of search terms, nor do we charge extra for an extensive search term listing. Our goal is to satisfy each client's needs, and with that in mind, our sales and account services team works closely with each client to ensure the readers’ instructions are concise and specific, regardless of the number of search terms used.

Q: How often can I change my search terms?
A: You can change your search terms as often as you need to and there is no extra charge for doing so. The Media Research Group’s sales and client service specialists will work with you to design reading instructions to satisfy your information needs. When there is a change in those needs, we encourage our clients to contact us so that we can adjust their reading instructions accordingly.
